We often arrive in therapy with some preconceptions and hopes, I invite you to share these in your sessions for our joint exploration and reflection and have included a brief overview of what to expect below.
I consider therapy a cyclical and a co-created journey, and will check in with you to deepen our shared understanding of your experience in relationship with me and others.
I invite and model radical honesty in my therapy room, and consider it a two way process. I take into consideration not only the intrapsychic (our internal processes) but the environment, culture, sex and gender differences that surround us and interpersonal experiences (who we are in relationship with others).
Therapystages
What to expect

The diagram above illustrates at a high level, the main stages of therapy with me.
Below I have given a bit more detail. Please feel free to discuss this with me directly.
-
First sessions (1-6 weeks)
-
Exploring the problem
-
Landscape enquiry - this begins with questions about your family history, and will include several areas of enquiry that continues throughout therapy. These include but aren't limited to:
-
Feelings, thoughts and behaviours.
-
Historical enquiry - your family history
-
Social - your interactions with others
-
Phenomenological - what's going on inside, based my experience of you and what you name and notice yourself
-
-
-
Analysis
-
This is a shared process where I'll offer insights for your reflection and input, using Transactional Analysis, Polyvagal theory and other methodologies, based on what resonates for you personally.
-
-
Change or goal defined
-
Over time we'll refine a verbal contract that will fit into one of 4 categories (shown below). We'll also regularly check in with each other on your perceived progress and experience.
-
change, exploration, clarification, growth and discovery
-
-
-
The Steps illustrated above repeat on a spiral, as our working alliance develops, we'll get deeper into your processes.
-
Change/understanding of self- will gradually begin to take place, and we'll review and reflect on this together
-
Ending (>6 weeks)
-
Ending comes at a time that feels right for you, when you feel you've met your goals, don't need therapy in the present moment, and if it's not working out.
-
I allow 1 weeks wind now for every year of therapy together. e.g. If we've been together 2 years I allow 2 sessions for our goodbye.
-
Endings sometimes happen due to financial implications. In the event of forced endings, due to financial issues. I have an affordable therapy waitlist available for those who are interested and keen to continue their therapy.
